As some of you may know, every Fall we revamp our Contributing Design Team. And since the Summer is quickly coming to a close, we are starting to look for some new members to join the ranks of some pretty rockin' scrapbookers who we've been lucky to have on our team. In lieu of that, here are some tips for those wanting to apply:
1. Send an email.
We have a link here on the blog (or just email firstname.lastname@example.org) and that will get you to where you need to be! If an email is not sent here, it most likely won't be considered. Sending an email is the only way you'll be put on file.
2. Keep it simple.
In your email, please keep it simple. There are lots of emails to read so the simpler, the better! Make sure it includes your name (first and last) and location. The best way to be considered is also to email samples of your work or better yet, send a link to an online gallery of your work. Also keep in mind that it's probably a good idea to show samples of your work that have American Crafts products on it. Please do not feel like you have to create original pieces just for your entry. That is not a requirement at all.
3. Send it early.
Our contracts for new team members begin September 1, 2007. So, if you want to be considered be sure to get your email in before August 15, 2007. Anything after that will go on file for next year. Those chosen for the team will be notified via email before September 1st. All others will not be notified, sorry. Once all new team members have been chosen, we'll post the list here on the blog.
4. Send it once.
Multiple emails are not necessary. If you've sent one email, you're good to go. Sometimes replying to the emails can take some time but be patient. We'll do our best to reply so that you know we got it at the very least.
5. Pick a team.
We have 2 Contributing Design Teams: an American one and an International one. That's why including your location in your email is so important.
6. Brag a little.
Letting us know if you've been published is great, just remember to keep in simple. Your publishing history from the past year is plenty. Also, don't fret if you haven't been published yet! We're all about the fresh scrapbookers, too.
ETA: We don't have you sign an exclusive. You are free to be on other design teams while on the ACCDT. We do have you sign confidentiality agreements though.
So, let us know if you're interested and we'd love to see what you've got!
