The Guest Designer for Nightfall week is Valerie Mangan!
Tell us a little bit about yourself: I’m a working wife and mom living in New Jersey. I’m always on the lookout for inspiration but my go-to source is my day job, where I work as an interior designer. I find trends in color, pattern, and material that are constantly crossing over into my paper crafts. When I’m not working on a paper project, I love to bake, take pictures, and read about art and design. My favorite items to make are layouts, cards, and mini albums and I would describe my style as clean, linear, and graphic. I love to sew and rarely produce a project that does not have some kind of stitching on it. I've been a fan of American Crafts since my early scrapbooking days and I'm thrilled to have had this opportunity to work with this fun line!
What is your favorite American Crafts product: Definitely the patterned paper. I love the graphic design and trendy color palettes.
Happy Halloween by Valerie Mangan
This layout will serve as the opening page of the Halloween section of my album for 2010. I love the spider webs on this patterned paper and wanted them to be the focal point. I kept the page simple and linear so that that elements and the black and white photo would be the focus.
Supplies: Rust (71465) - Cardstock, Night Crawler Paper (35509) – Nightfall, Starry Night Paper (35515) – Nightfall, Spells (72015) – Delights, Pumpkin Patch (75054) – Details, Halloween (42204) – Remarks, Thanks (70072) – Flair, Maple Pineapple (53221) - Thickers
Halloween Cards by Valerie Mangan
One of my favorite parts of this line is the addition of the pale blue to the traditional fall colors. For these cards I used simple elements and added that color back in with my stitching.

Autumn Mini Album by Valerie Mangan
This mini is made from a business card holder that I picked up at Target. The plastic sleeves serve as my page protectors. Each one features a wallet sized photo from last October embellished with Remarks stickers and captions cut from the Fall Fun paper. The stickers, along with the blackboard journaling spots and cut paper, were the perfect flat elements for this project.
Supplies: Moonlit Night Paper (35510) – Nightfall, Autumn Cider Paper (35519) – Nightfall, Fall Fun Paper (35528) – Nightfall, October Night Paper (35514) – Nightfall, Spells (72015) – Delights, Scarecrow (42207) – Remarks, Nightfall Plastic Buttons (85561) – Elements, Pumpkin Patch (75054) – Details, Halloween (42204) – Remarks, Autumn (42205) – Remarks, Thanks (70072) – Flair, Basic Chalkboard Stickers (42208) – Remarks, Harvest (89409) – Premium Ribbon
Me Today by Valerie Mangan
The blackboard paper reminds me of the surface of a magnet board or refrigerator door, so I adhered my elements as if they were tacked onto that kind of surface. The journaling documents some things about me on that particular day – a tiny envelope made from Autumn Harvest paper holds receipts and movie tickets collected that Saturday. I painted the title to mimic chalk on a blackboard and I stitched around the edge to emphasize that cute curly border line.
Supplies: Fall Moon Chalkboard Paper (35525) – Nightfall, Autumn Cider Paper (35519) – Nightfall, Autumn Harvest Paper (35523) – Nightfall, Spells (72015) – Delights, Scarecrow (42207) – Remarks, Nightfall Plastic Buttons (85561) – Elements, Pumpkin Patch (75054) – Details, Halloween (42204) - Remarks, Autumn (42205) – Remarks, Thanks (70072) – Flair, Chalkboard Stickers (42208) – Remarks, Harvest (89409) – Premium Ribbon
