The Embossing Week Guest Designer is Wendy Morris!
Short bio: A few words about me that describe me… Carefree. World traveler. Fearless. Confident. Positive. Full of random adventure. Pianist. Audit manager (but just because I’m an auditor does not mean I am not a creative soul). Unique yet original. I’m currently on the design teams for Simple Stories and Hampton Art. I come from a background of artists in my family. Everyone in my family can draw, so illustration really inspires me and all levels of art. Also, I have a strong love for photography, fashion, and music and I really focus on this rainbow of inspiration for my projects. I’ve been published in Scrapbook Trends, Scrapbook Trends: Mini Albums, Scrapbook Trends: Cards, Scrapbook Trends: Simply Handmade, and Stampington: The Stampers Stampler.
How did you get started scrapbooking? I’m always inspired by things around me and make time each day for something artsy. I love living the motto to “find inspiration everyday somewhere”. I’m usually jotting down ideas/sketches/color ideas and patterns for creations later once back in my art studio. Since scrapbooking 15+ years ago, I've been addicted since the beginning. I have a strong passion for life art, lots of creative spirit, and fearless in working with new products and techniques. My style would be defined as modern yet funky in delivering lots of details, mostly in mini books, and blending the old + new + typically adding stamping always in the mix.
What is your favorite American Crafts product? Stamps!
SUMMER 2012 BEACH & SURF by Wendy Morris
1. I added a pop of vintage flair (with a black & white photo enclosed inside an aged metal vintage frame) along with a modern edge on the beach theme. I played on the theme of the beach, summer, sunshine, and the joys of summertime with lots of layering. The touches of embossing were the perfect touches of texture for depth and interest. 2. For the title, I mixed in the simple font of the Hardcover Black Thickers along with the duo of colors for the heat embossed letters (the grapefruit & aqua Zing were just the right punch of color). Further, I took geometric shapes (i.e. the plain chipboard triangles) and worked these into the color scheme and interest to the layout. 3. Using the stamp markers + water on a non-stick mat, I dyed the white doily and canvas. You can use the stamp markers beyond the use for rubber/clear stamps.

THANKS A BUNCH by Wendy Morris
1. I made a play on the use of the banners from one of the stamps sets. Then, stepped it up with heat embossing Zing on a wood banner, and the white Zing contrast really well as a "pop" to color card stock
Supplies: Cardstock, Addi's Adoration Paper (35690) - Sketchbook, Thanks a Bunch Stamps (59197) - Neapolitan, Smile Best Wishes Stamps (59156), Rose Opaque (27121) Zing Embossing Powder, Aqua Opaque (27143) Zing Embossing Powder, White Opaque (27124) Zing Embossing Powder, Dot Glue Runner (61721) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That, Black (59500) Pigment Ink
BETCHA' BY GOLLY WOW by Wendy Morris
1. I mixed it up with two textures of embossing - dry embossing for the playing cards (using an embossing template, cardstock, and the Sizzix Big Shot) and heat embossing for the title (using Zing embossing powder, Glue Gloss from Clearsnap or Versamark from Tsukineko, and a heat tool). 2. This layout was inspired from the song, "Betcha' By Golly Wow" by the Stylistics. I really love the lyrics in the song and the "candyland" colors and mood of this layout was inspired by the song.
Supplies: Cardstock, At First Sight Paper (35641) - Neapolitan, Dreamy Days Paper (35642) - - Neapolitan, Sunny Skip Paper (35636) - Neapolitan, Addi's Adoration Paper (35690) - Sketchbook, Anywhere (31031) Thickers, Doll Thickers, Taffy (62622) Stamp Marker, Sing Along (59212) Stamps, Black (59500) Pigment Ink, Grapefruit Opaque (27135) Zing Embossing Powder, Dot Glue Runner (61721) - This to That, Dimensional Dots (61709) - This to That
CELEBRATING LIFE by Wendy Morris
1. I adore the mason jars from the Neopolitan paper and decided to cut these apart and layer them for the layout with different sizes of mini photos as "labels" on the jars. Also, I added some baker's twine as a neat twist on one of the jars. 2. Using a floral stamp and Zing embossing powder, I really love the soft effect that resulted from the stamp image itself and rose embossing powder. Also, I used the black embossing powder instead of just regular black ink for some added interest.

1. Made use of many levels of heat embossing with Zing on different surfaces - wood shapes, chipboard, and paper - throughout this mini book that captures many of my "summer loves". 2. Used the colorful AC Stamp Markers to dye the manila tags & doilies in this mini. This technique coordinated perfectly with the range of papers used from Sketchbook and Neapolitan in this mini book.
