Holly says: "Ornament exchanges seem to be becoming quite a popular tradition these
days. Whether it be with a group of friends, co-workers, or even your
internet crafting buddies... ornaments make lovely gifts that are sure
to be treasured throughout the years. And, handmade ornaments are even
more special! These little shadowbox ornaments are simple to make, not
too terribly time-consuming, and offer lots of creative opportunities
to play with American Crafts' new Merrymint line!
Just start off with a hollow papier mache form from your local craft
store. I then painted the inside, sprinkled it with glitter, and added
some AC Glittered Cardstock as a background for this little village.
The houses and tree were hand-cut from the patterend paper. Just leave a
little flap of paper at the bottom of the hand-cut shape, fold it
backwards to form a base, and use a dot of hot glue to secure it to the
bottom of the ornament. Once your village is assembled, cover up the
hot glue with some liquid applique. When heat from a heat gun is
applied to the liquid applique, it puffs up to look like snow! Finish
of the ornament with some vintage wired tinsel, a festive flower
adorned with one of AC's jeweled mini-brads, an edge of velvet
scalloped AC ribbon, and another loop of AC ribbon to form the hanger
for your ornament. Voila! You have a charming ornament to give at
this year's ornament exchange... or to keep for your own tree (we won't
tell)."
These are absolutely adorable and an amazing gift to pass on to a friend. I love this fabulous idea!
This is ADORABLE. So tiny and so festive. Thanks for the inspiration, Holly!
