I'm pleased to announce the guest designer of the week: Jing-Jing Nickel!
You're in for a real treat with all the POW! creations she's made. Check 'em out now:
Supplies: Taffy - Multi-Dot (35458) – Patterned Glitter Paper, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Glossy Meadow Black (53163) – Thickers, Garden Goodness (42195) – Remarks, Rocky Road Houndstooth (71539) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Ladybug (71454) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Charcoal (71542) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Pacific (71520) – Pow! Glitter Paper
"This simple layout uses two 4x6 photos. My task was to feature the Pow! glitter paper and I thought it most appropriate to showcase the photos of her wearing a circular ring. I cut the circles out of the Charcoal and Ladybug Pow! glitter papers to go with her ring."
Supplies: Caramel (71533) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Sweet Tomato (53091) - Thickers, Shout (72009) - Delights, Silver Lake Trail Paper (35346) - Margarita, Santo Domingo Paper (35430) – Margarita, Snake River Paper (35352) - Campy Trails, Deer Creek Paper (35349) – Campy Trails, Stumpy Meadow Paper (35347) - Campy Trails, White (71081) – AC Cardstock
"The Campy Trails collection is perfect for my Yellowstone photos. That’s me in the rearview mirror 'shooting' buffalo. The broad strokes of this collection and the colors match so well with the photos I have. I also added the Caramel Pow! glitter paper as a border for good measure. Buffalo want to look glamorous too!"
Supplies: Silver (71531) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Evergreen (71527) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Shout (72009) - Delights, Meadow Black (53163) – Thickers, Indie Tegan 4 (57616) – Premium Ribbon
"What’s absolutely wonderful about these Pow! glitter papers is that they have all the glitter but none of the glitter mess! I can only describe them as matte glitter. Nothing rubs off! I couldn’t have altered a tea tin and actually use it if every time I touched my tin some glitter came off. Another note of importance, Pow! glitter papers adhere very easily onto tins: it’s thick but bendable, really perfect for alteration projects."
Supplies: Silver (71531) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Delicate Paper (35413) - Hello Sunshine, Radiant Paper (35396) - Hello Sunshine, Good Morning (42194) - Remarks
"For this card, I layered some patterned papers onto each other with the negatives of some die cuts. I backed the last die cut window with the Silver Pow! glitter paper. Then I punched out some small glitter circles to accent the front of the card. The sentiment is in between the second and the front layer of the patterned papers."
Supplies: Marine (71544) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Guava Paper (35427) – Margarita, Merengue Paper (35438) – Margarita, Fellow Honey (53173) – Thickers, Lagoon (71066) – AC Cardstock, Empanada Paper (35429) - Margarita, Santo Domingo Paper (35430) – Margarita, Summertime (42197) - Remarks
"I thought the Marine Pow! glitter paper reflected the colors of the Caribbean quite well so I used a strip of it in this layout of my kids building their sand castle. I did some fussy cutting of the Guava paper for the border at the bottom. I also embellished the cut outs with dimensional accents."
Supplies: Silver (71531) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Pacific (71520) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Caramel (71533) – Pow! Glitter Paper, Peachy Keen Corduroy Brads (85538) - Elements, Fashion Accents 1 (42519) – Remarks, Gee Whiz (35383) – Peachy Keen
"This card summarizes my feelings about American Crafts products and these bendable, un-rub-off-able, die-cut-able, and punchable Pow! glitter papers! I made three rosettes and accented them with the corduroy brads in the middle from the Peachy Keen collection."
Want to get to know Jing-Jing a little better? Your wish is my command!
How did you get started scrapbooking?
I started scrapbooking after attending a Creative Memories party 12 years ago. It was the perfect way to put all my travel photography into an album and write about the photos. Then with the birth of my first child, a new creative realm was born with her. Today and every day, I scrap about my family, my trips, and my family on trips.
What would you say your scrapbooking “style” is?
My scrapbooking style is traditional but always humorous.
What is your favorite technique?
I like to combine a lot of patterned papers and I always look for interesting titles.
When do you find time to scrap?
I mostly scrapbook on weekends. I also try to squeeze in a few minutes here and there during the work week after dinner.
On average, how long does it take you to complete a project?
I would say it takes me two hours to complete a layout.
What is your favorite thing about American Crafts?
I count on American Crafts’ breadth of products. It’s not just a matter of a collection, but all the staple products that can be used with or independent of American Crafts’ collections make AC a perennial go-to manufacturer for me. You should see my brads and Thickers collections, they are impressive if I say so myself :)
Make sure you stop by Jing-Jing's blog to see all of her fantastic ideas and creations!
Awesome work, Jing-Jing! I always love to see your amazing ideas.
