DRAGONFLY RIBBON MAGNETS by Cindy Stevens

Supplies: Value Premium Ribbon Pack (58817) -  Amy Tangerine Sketchbook, Wood Buttons (85575) - Elements, Daydreams Plastic Buttons (85573) - Elements, Double Sided Super Sticky Red Tape (61753) - This to That

Gather your craft supplies: bright, coordinating ribbons, strong double-sided adhesive tape, coordinating buttons, magnets, clothespins, acrylic paint (optional), paint brush, and something to cover your work surface.

If adding paint, apply 1-2 coats of paint on wooden clothespins and let them dry.

Cut ribbons to 2 x 6" and 2 x 7". (I usually just 'eyeball' it and then re-cut using my first ribbon cut as a guide, I find it saves time). Apply a small strip of double-sided sticky tape to the center of each ribbon (see photo). Choose a strong adhesive that will keep your project from falling apart due to everyday wear and tear. Next, take each end and place it in the center of the sticky tape. Do the same on the opposite side. 

Add another small piece of double-sided sticky tape to the WRONG SIDE of ONE of the smaller and ONE of the larger ribbons (see photo). Adhere it to the matching loop in a criss-cross shape (again, see photo for placement). Add a button to the center of the ribbons and adhere the ribbons to the clothespins using sticky tape.

Place magnets on sticky tape; trim them apart. Adhere magnets to the bottom of the dragonfly (I used three each to make sure it can hold something to the fridge if needs be). 

I added small pieces of florist wire to my pink, yellow, and blue dragonflies as antennae. This step is optional. 

Tips: Choose ribbons and buttons that are a similar color scheme so your overall project isn't too busy looking. If you're making several dragonflies of different colors, choose ribbons that are similar in width and that have similar patterns for a more unified look.
 
Now your magnets are ready to hold small photos, artwork or keep your to-do list stuck to the fridge!
