Today we're going to learn how to make this altered winter canvas in a step-by-step tutorial by Patricia Roebuck (Blog: Patricia Roebuck | Instagram: @patricia_roebuck | Pinterest: @paroe | Twitter: @NiHaoPatricia):
Supplies: Heart Throb (366034) - Amy Tangerine Cut & Paste, Terrific Tunes (366170) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Printed Chipboard Shapes (366205) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Adhesive Flowers (366203) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Fabric Flowers (366202) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Iceplum Dimensional Stickers (42276) - Remarks, Accent & Phrase Stickers (366195) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Thickers RSVP/Confirmed Asistencia (366191) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Veneer Set ( 366204) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party, Thickers Lindsay (366290) - Peppermint Express, Thickers RSVP/Confirmed Asistencia (366190) - Dear Lizzy Polka Dot Party
With the background patterned paper selected, add zig zag gold stitching down each line of hearts with a sewing machine.
Cover a 12x12 canvas with the stitched patterned paper using a generous amount of Mod Podge on the bottom and top to adhere and seal. (Note: trim excess ends around the canvas)
While the Mod Podge dries, mix modeling paste and glitter paint together.
Apply the mixed paste and glitter paint with a mask in different areas around the canvas (I am leaving room for the quote).
Let the mixture dry then figure out the placement of the title before adhering it down with a hot glue gun.
Paint wood veneer flowers then adhere them and a cut out transparency to the canvas.
Fold over patterned paper and hand cut leaves in different sizes.
Have an idea of where your leaves will go and then punch holes through the canvas and paper (note: you will not be able to punch through the wood on the back or the battery pack)
Attach the battery pack for the lights on the back of canvas with velcro and hot glue.
Pull the lights through and then adhere the leaves.
Add more embellishments for color and enjoy your cozy new canvas for the winter!
We'd love to see your version of this project! Add a link in the comments below to pics of your canvases so we can take a look!
