I'm elated to introduce our Haunted Hollow Guest Designer - Missy Whidden! (Blog: Missy Whidden | Instagram: @missywhidden| Pinterest: @missywhidden)
Short bio: Hey there! I’m Missy Whidden from Florida, USA. I am SO excited to be here today on the American Crafts blog! I’m a stay-at-home mom and a fitness instructor. I teach Spinning and Body Pump at our local YMCA and I love it. I used to teach high school English before I gave it up to start a family. I’ve been married to Marshall for over 14 years and we have two little girls, Reese and Paige. They are both autistic and nonverbal which makes our lives very interesting. They are amazing and teach us something new every day. I’m very active at their school where I serve on the executive board. Life at our house is never dull or boring, so I try my best to capture it in my scrapbooks!
How did you get started scrapbooking? I have always loved arts and crafts, but I fell in love with scrapbooking about nine years ago. I helped my mother-in-law put together a baby book for my husband and I was hooked! I started out with deco scissors and stickers. My style has changed quite a bit since those days! I love getting messy with paints and mists and I just adore patterned paper. I love using my Silhouette Cameo to create fun looks with die cuts. My newest addiction is machine stitching! I do something scrappy related every day. It’s so much more than a hobby to me. It’s my therapy!
What is your favorite American Crafts product? Oh gosh. What a tough question. It’s a tie between the glitter Thickers and patterned paper. I can’t get enough of either of them!
SO FRIGHTENING by Missy Whiden
I used a ton of patterned paper to back these cute spider web die cuts. I also added some gesso and watercolor which breaks up the background pattern a bit.
Supplies: Haunted Hollow (368665) – Spooky Story Paper, Haunted Hollow (368903) – 6x6 Paper Pad, Haunted Hollow (368677) Accent & Phrase Stickers, Haunted Hollow (368675) – Die Cut Cardstock Shapes, Cardstock (AM710-82) Black
I wanted the colors of my photos to really pop, so I used more of the solid colored patterned papers to keep the busy-ness to a minimum. I also added some fun messy texture to the background with gesso, modeling paste, and watercolors then embellished with the awesome stickers in the collection.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN CARD by Missy Whidden
I wanted to create a sort of strip mosaic look, so I cut diagnonal strips of various patterned papers and stitched them down. The big full moon die cut was a perfect center piece to be topped off with a fun sentiment.
