I'm so excited to introduce our latest guest designer, Lilin Fang (Blog: Lilin Fang | Instagram: @afterdinnertreats | Pinterest: @lilinfang)!
Short bio: My name is Lilin Fang. I’m 34 years old and I reside in Singapore. I have been married to my best friend Ian for 6 years and am currently a part time working mum to our adorable 4 year old, Ethan. I love spending time with my boys and a bit of creative time each day always cheers me up!
How did you get started scrapbooking? I started scrapbooking in March 2012 when a friend gave me a scrapbook kit as a gift and I enjoyed documenting a few photos with it. Since then, I started with Project Life to document Ethan’s first year and have been addicted to this creative form of memory keeping.
What is your favorite American Crafts product? My favourite has to be white cardstock! I love using white background for my layouts and cards as it is like a white canvas and allows me to decorate it in any way I like. I love the textured surface and it’s thickness works great with my Silhouette Cameo. I doubt I would be able to live without my white cardstock and will always make sure I have extras for rainy days.
Layer your photo with few pieces of patterned paper to let it stand out against a busy die cut background.
Supplies: Cardstock (71081) – 12 X 12 White, Fine & Dandy (370070) Pretty Packages Paper, Fine & Dandy (370099) Die Cut Cardstock Shapes, True Stories (370745) Wood Buttons
I love using colorful patterned papers like Emery as backing for my die cut background as the you can always find different colors and designs on a single sheet of paper and these colors peeking out from behind adds dimension and a little surprise element.

SO HAPPY TOGETHER by Lilin Fang
Try using gesso to tone down the dark background so that your photo and embellishments can stand out. It also works as a great adhesive for the die cut here!

YOUR’RE A WHOLE LOT OF LOVELY CARD by Lilin Fang
Die cut adds texture and design to an otherwise plain and white background. Just add a die cut shape in the front and you have put together a simple homemade card.
