Welcome to the wonderful world of pastels! I love the soft wash of color that a pastel palette gives a project. It’s such a beautiful, dreamy look. When I started this project, I immediately reached for my photos from Hawaii and thought this would make a great traveler’s notebook album.
I didn’t have a traveler’s album on hand, so I made one. I cut six sheets of white cardstock down to 8.5”x8.5” and folded it in half. For the cover, I cut a sheet of rainbow Dearly Lizzy Lovely Day patterned paper to the same size and placed it at the bottom of the pile. To create the binding, I ran the entire book (including the cover) through the sewing machine right down the center. It was easy as that!
I began the notebook spread with some of my favorite photos from a luau. These were decorated with a chipboard titles, flags, stickers, die cuts, washi tape and even a little bit of patterned paper fringe. The color palette was limited to soft hues of light pink and aqua with a tiny bit of yellow. I love the airy feel of the spread.
The design itself is simple and this is the kind of project that you can put together in a few hours. You can tell the story from beginning to end in just one craft session. That’s the beauty of it! Decorate it with a pastel theme and keep it simple.
