I love the fuss and frill of a good border. Let’s get crazy with the simplest of tools - scissors! Using an ombre patterned paper from the On a Whim collection makes creating this intricate design a snap. That punch of gradual color really makes a fringe border stand out!
I used a pair of scissors and cut random strips about 2” long at the shaded edge o the Tropical Paradise pattern paper. I love the depth that the cuts give this beautiful pattern. I punched 2” circles from the same sheet of paper, cut them in half and then used them as a border between the fringe and the patterned paper. This adds even more movement to the design.
Add a swish of gold detail by using a paintbrush and a flick of Vicki Boutin glaze to underline the words. Next, sprinkle gold flakes and coarse glitter over the glaze to adhere. This creates a beautiful sparkly effect that highlights the words and frame.
The title leads the eye from that very large photo, right on down to the fringe! By staggering chipboard, Thickers titles, a journaling strip and scatters of enamel wood buttons it creates a beautiful title that balances out the photo.
The next time you want to create some fun, grab your scissors and some patterned paper! The possibilities are endless.
