Valentine's Day Cards with Sparkle City

Hello friends! Leigh here, to share a my first project using the brand new Sparkle City Collection by Shimelle. This collection is so whimsically perfect, and works for any project, but I have chosen to use it for a trio Valentine Cards today. I love that she includes plenty of blue and greens, along with the pinks and purples, to work for masculine and feminine cards.

All three cards employ the ink-blending through a Vicki Boutin Stencil, then they are covered with a mix of the Moxy Glitter, and Vicki Boutin Acrylic Matte Gel. I created a mask so the homemade glitter gel could be spread over the entire heart shape, and not just where the stencil openings are.

I easily created envelopes, to coordinate with the cards, by using the We R Memory Keepers Envelope Punch Board. I love that the Shimelle Head In The Clouds papers coordinate with the new Sparkle City line! The double-sided papers work so well for envelopes, because you can see a peek of the other pattern when you open the envelope.

The “B” sides of the envelopes also coordinate with the colors in the cards. I chose to make masculine cards with blue and greens, and a feminine card with pink and purple. I dress my male Pomeranian in pink and aqua though, so use whatever colors suit your fancy!

Here, two of the cards are placed with their coordinating envelope, and you can see how well the colors in both collections coordinate. I traced the outline of the die I used to create the largest heart and trimmed around it with scissors. TIP: If you don’t have a larger heart, this is a good way to create a bigger heart without the die. I wanted you to be able to see the edge of the homemade glitter gel, so I created the larger heart using the tip above.

The card sentiments are created with two stamp sets from Kelly Creates, and the newest stamp set from the Vicki Boutin Color Kaleidoscope line. All three cards were created with American Crafts foam dots, to add some dimension, and showcase the die cuts from the Sparkle City Collection. I find that popping up the die cuts really makes them stand out from the pattern on the largest heart. I added The Sparkle City Puffy Stickers to increase the number of hearts on each card to an odd number. Thank you for visiting today, Leigh.
